Have you ever seen a job
description and felt discouraged because you have no connections?
Nobody to help you get past the gatekeepers. Nobody to push your
resume in front of the decision-makers.
What
I’m about to say next breaks my heart. I’ve had people tell me that
there are jobs that they believed they were a good fit for but
didn’t apply for because they believed the role was super
competitive and they knew their resume wouldn’t make the
cut.
First of all, if you have done that before, let
it be your last time. Do not count yourself out. Do not make up a
story in your head that causes you to reject yourself. You should
always go for the job you want and believe in the value you bring
to the table.
Just like Ashley Dos Santos, Senior Director of
Communications for the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games. She got
an interview and was offered a role with the Olympic Committee with
no connections!
